An alliance of people
equipped to build peace across Africa
What We Do
(API) offers an intensive study of Peacebuilding and Conflict Transformation rooted in and responding to challenges emerging from the African context. Practitioners from across the continent come together to study and reflect on conflict transformation theory and practice, and to interact with others involved with peace building work.

Our Impact
Africa Peacebuilding Institute (API) was first delivered in 2001 in Ndola, Zambia. Since its inception, the vision of API has been to train a network of peace-builders on the continent who are then able to initiate and support peace-building efforts in their home contexts. This reinforces the belief that development is only possible where there is peace.

The community where I live has mixed religions... it is always a hot zone. During one crisis, I used my API training to gather leaders and youths from both sides, to agree on terms to live together without tension or uprisings. It has been working for our community.
