About

About

Our Vision

An alliance of people equipped to build peace throughout the African continent.

Our Mission

To bring peace to the African continent by raising up people equipped in conflict prevention and resolution, community building and reconciliation based on principles of non-violence, justice, dignity of the human person and right relationships.

History

Africa Peacebuilding Institute (API) was first delivered in 2001 in Ndola, Zambia. Since its inception, the vision of API has been to train a network of peace-builders on the continent who are then able to initiate and support peace-building efforts in their home contexts. This reinforces the belief that development is only possible where there is peace.

With nearly 20 years of consecutive peace-building training, API sees its niche as offering unique pan-African perspectives, consisting of practitioner participants, and having Christian roots branching out into interfaith engagement. Many alumni have become leaders of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), civil society organizations (CSOs) or have begun peace-building institutes and initiatives in their countries.
