After API 2018, Burundian delegates decided to launch a project of peace clubs in schools. After discussing this with the church leaders, they set up 10 peace clubs in the Gitega and Ngozi regions.
Activities in Gitega
Claver, one peace club coordinator in Gitega, implemented six peace clubs in two schools. He led a training session for teachers interested in facilitating those peace clubs. He also supervised focus groups during a meeting of peace clubs from every school.
Activities In Ngozi
Peace clubs have been set up in two ways: schools owned by Evangelical Friends Church in Cagura and a school owned by Scripture Union Burundi in Gika.
The school year ended July. Some of our activities included:
- Training of committees
- Traning of teachers-facilitators
- Conducting focus group
- School year-end ceremonies
We strongly need prayer and support. This project is lead on the basis of volunteering. We still need financial support. There is a grat need for donors who can give out materials. Please, pray for us!
