This course introduces conflict transformation, exploring the theory and practice of addressing underlying causes of conflicts to create positive outcomes for all parties involved. Students will examine various approaches to conflict transformation, including nonviolent communication, mediation, negotiation, and restorative justice, while considering the role of power dynamics, culture, and identity. Through lectures, group discussions, case studies, and practical exercises, students will learn to identify and analyze conflicts, develop effective communication skills, and design strategies for transforming conflicts in different contexts. By the end of the course, students will have the critical thinking and problem-solving skills to engage constructively with conflicts in diverse settings.
